Hi buddy! I love you!
Mom showed you a Donald Duck Halloween cartoon that she loved as a kid and you guys both seem to love it. I even catch myself sometimes singing, "Trick-or-treat! Trick-or-treat! Trick-or-treat for Halloween!" like they do in the cartoon. You love to sing it, too! It makes us happy that you can enjoy some of the things we enjoyed as kids. This Halloween you chose a vault boy costume from Fallout. It was that or an inflatable T-rex, and it was a hard decision, but you ultimately chose vault boy. It is a little big because I ordered the wrong size (I'm sorry!) but I still think it will work, and you even have a costume pip-boy that I think you got for Christmas one year that will go along great with it.
For reasons I won't go into a whole lot that I'm sure you will read about and remember, 2020 has been a different kind of a year. Despite that, school seems to have been going well for you and you seem to like 3rd grade even more than 2nd grade. If you are having problems or difficulties at school, you sure are keeping them to yourself, so I am hopeful that it has been as good as you claim! I ask you every day almost and you always say you had a great day. I sure hope so! Sorry, I didn't get to go to the pumpkin patch with you like we got to do in 2018, but at least you got to go!
There is a new game coming out called Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity that we are all really excited for you to play. We just set up the demo download today (good things happen on mom's birthday!) and I bet you love it! I have been playing the Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild not just because it's a good game and I love Zelda games but also because I am trying to make my way through the game so we can talk about it together! I have gotten Divine Beast Vah Ruta and you and I had a good time talking about Prince Sidon and Mipha and that whole quest. Currently, I am in Vah Rudania which you haven't beaten so for a change, I am trying not to spoil it for you! ^_^
You of course turned 8 this year and, as per usual, are growing like a weed. It is especially impressive how much you have grown since just the start of the school year on August 19th - almost an inch! For your birthday this year on exactly February 29th and before it became a "different sort of a year" we had a big party at WaTiki water park in South Dakota. You had been there before for PJ's birthday and we got to treat you pretty good this year! It's a little difficult watching your little boy who it feels like was just a baby go up and down these GIANT water slides all on his own. You and I of course went down many of them together, and we had a good time together. We also got to stay in the nearby hotel (Residence Inn & Suites) which we all really liked, and of course, we had lots of arcade-time and pizza as well! One of your friends from school and his family (Kolson) - was even able to make it (it is a long way from home).
You have a lot of interest (and skill) in building and carpentry and things like that. You and your sister even built a campsite outside and the wooden hut/tent you guys made was actually pretty impressive. You are really good at anything that is about building and engineering, thinking up ideas, and putting them to reality - things like that - but you are a bit hard to teach because you are 8 years old and somehow know everything! :) I try to teach you what I can and learn from you as well the best I can! You do, of course, see things that I may not see, but hey buddy - I have a lot to teach you! Maybe listen to me a bit from time to time and do your I a favor, OK? :p
At the begging of the year, you were calling the "Coronavirus" the Pirhanavirus, and that's definitely got to make it into this entry! There was an accident where somehow Alexiel was behind you and you were swinging around a metal bat and she ended up getting glue for the wound at the ER and we wanted to tell you and memorialize just how caring and worried you were for her. You were there for her and holding her hand and trying to make her feel better and it was very sweet. And it wasn't just then, you are always thinking about your sister. One time recently you were trying to earn money and give half of it to her if I am remembering what your mom told me right. Like we always say, you have a good heart - don't let the world change that! You change the world, okay?
You ended up getting glasses this year, which you were really worried about. But you rock the glasses and you love them. They look good on you!
You and your sister must have heard your mom and I singing the "call Jenny" song (867-5309) because you will sometimes put it on repeat on your Amazon Echo dot and listen to it as you fall asleep! Most of the time though, it's "Zelda and Chill" or "Mario and Chill". :)
Today of course is your mom's birthday and mine was yesterday and honestly, you guys probably enjoy it more than us and make the days for us! You both went out of your way to give us presents (you gave me your pickax that you used to build a tunnel with!) and sang happy birthday for us with the wonderful cake that you guys made us. We appreciate it so very much and want you to know how much we love you! As crazy as the year has been, you guys make it wonderful, and I hope the rest of the year is as wonderful as it has been so far! We love you!
Mom Prime & I (but mostly me =P)
(some things I wrote down on the notepad on my phone that I didn't want to forget - a little post-script from an earlier age)
When you were littler, like 1-3ish, I used to pretend to be "Dr. Elephant", the elephant dentist from Peppa Pig. I would tuck you in or whatnot and then leave and come back in as "Dr. Elephant" - "WELL HELLO THERE YOUNG VINCENT, WE HAVEN'T BEEN EATING TOO MANY SWEETIES HAVE WE?" and you just loved it!
A little later down the road, like 2-4ish, you would eat these yogurts that we called 'golden bongos' because the yogurt had some sort of a contest where if you found a gold one you would win a prize. Somehow, that ended up to where we would talk about a 'golden bongo' being a magical item that would transport you to whatever type of world your mind desired - a Zelda world, a cartoon world, etc.... and we had a lot of fun with that before you moved on. But here it is for us to remember. :) Maybe one day we will find a golden bongo!
And one more thing I wrote down - on 8/11 you told me, "if you ever accidentally lose your job, I will give you one!" - ^_^)
